Headlight conversion for left-hand/right-hand traffic
Headlight conversion for left-hand/right-hand traffic
   
The headlights with gas discharge bulbs have a setting lever which allows the headlights to be converted from left-hand to right-hand traffic and vice versa. Moving the setting lever changes the way the road ahead is lit up and prevents oncoming traffic from being dazzled. This measure is intended for left-hand drive vehicles that are to be used temporarily in countries with left-hand traffic or for right-hand drive vehicles in countries with right-hand traffic.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Headlight adjustment unit -VAS 5046- or
t  Headlight adjustment unit -VAS 5047-
–  Place headlight adjustment unit in front of headlight and switch on dipped beam.
The setting lever of both headlights must be set such that peripheral road illumination is switched on or off at both headlights simultaneously.

Peripheral road illumination switched on:
On the test screen, the wedge-shaped light component is visible above the horizontal line.
  Note
With left-hand drive vehicles, the light wedge is on the right-hand side above the horizontal line on the test screen; with right-hand drive vehicles, the light wedge is on the left-hand side above the horizontal line.
Peripheral road illumination switched off:
  V02-0396
On the test screen, the light emission is visible as a horizontal line.
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
–  Remove the headlight cap to convert headlight.

–  Move setting lever at both headlights to desired position -arrows-.
  WARNING
Allow the headlights to cool down before adjusting the setting levers.
–  Check function of headlight.
–  Check headlight settings and adjust if necessary → Booklet37.
